No, it is not initially required. PA is a direct access state and our Physical Therapists are certified as Direct Access providers. This means you can see us for up to 30 calendar days (from the first date of service) for Physical Therapy services without a prescription. After that time, you will need a prescription to continue Physical Therapy.
After the initial evaluation, if the scope or nature of your condition or injury is not a Physical Therapy problem, you will be referred to the appropriate medical professional.
The easiest way to schedule an appointment is through our website. On the scheduling page, you have access to our schedule of availability and will be able to select an appointment type (please select “60 Min Evaluation and Treatment Session” if you are a new patient or a returning patient with a new issue). After choosing an appointment, you will enter your information and receive all waivers to complete electronically before your first visit.
If you are unable to schedule an appointment at your desired day/time, please add yourself to the waitlist via our online scheduling platform or schedule with another sports Physical Therapist at our practice. All our sports medicine professionals are more than capable of meeting your needs. They share the same values of professionalism and expertise that set us apart as a company.
If you are adding yourself to the online waitlist, we check it multiple times per day and are constantly adjusting the schedule as able to accommodate all requests.
Don’t forget to plan ahead with any scheduling needs!
We are an out-of-network Physical Therapy clinic and are not contracted with any insurances. Full payment is due at the time of service. We accept cash, check, all major credit cards, and HSA cards. Many insurance plans have out-of-network benefits that will reimburse you for some or all of your visit with us. Upon request, we can provide you with the necessary paperwork for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement. Not every insurance has out-of-network benefits so this is not guaranteed. It is your responsibility to verify what (if any) out-of-network benefits you have and how you submit claims.
Insurance companies increasingly control how care is provided and delivered. The best care is not possible under the restrictions of an insurance-based model. Being out of network allows us to deliver the best 1-on-1 skilled care to get you back doing what you love in the fastest and most efficient way possible.
Every insurance has a different process. Please call the phone number on the back of your insurance card or login to your insurance web portal to search for the method specific to your insurance. This is not a complicated process and typically takes 5-10 min. Please remember, knowing your insurance information and your claims submission process is your responsibility.
We are not participating providers with Medicare. Medicare dictates that those covered under it must see a Medicare provider for Physical Therapy services. This means we cannot treat individuals covered by Medicare for Physical Therapy services. We are happy to help you via referral to an appropriate provider in the area. We are, however, able to see patients for services not provided by Medicare, such as fitness or wellness.
Dry Needling is a manual technique used by a licensed Physical Therapist to treat myofascial pain and movement dysfunction. It is performed after an appropriate evaluation and screening. It involves using a “dry” needle (no medication or injection) to treat trigger points (irritated taut bands of muscle tissue) to improve pain, movement, flexibility, muscle activation, and recovery.
Dry needling is not acupuncture, a practice based on traditional Chinese medicine and performed by acupuncturists. Dry needling is a manual Physical Therapy technique that is part of modern Western medicine principles and supported by research.
Dry Needling is NOT offered as a standalone treatment. It is only offered as part of a broader wholistic treatment plan incorporating other aspects of sports Physical Therapy including but not limited to: movement analysis and retraining, therapeutic exercise, manual therapy, and patient education.
Additionally, Dry Needling is only performed after a formal evaluation by your sports Physical Therapist to determine if it would be safe, appropriate, and effective as part of your plan of care. Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions.
BFR Rehabilitation and Training uses an FDA-approved BFR device for brief and intermittent blood flow restriction while exercising at reduced loads. It is a research-based technique that is safe and effective when performed under the supervision of a trained sports medicine professional.
Potential benefits can include muscle and strength gain, improved recovery, improved VO2max, improved endurance, improved function, improved rehab tolerance with less stress on joints/muscles, improved sports conditioning, maintenance of mid-season fitness, and the ability to train when otherwise unable due to pain or injury.
A Running Gait and Movement Screen is a series of tests and movements involving a combination of 3D and 2D technology as well as sport-specific clinical testing to assess your running gait. We can also use the same process to assess any movement, such as biking, squatting, jumping, etc. We will use this information to determine contributing factors that can assist in rehab, decrease injury risk, or improve running or sports performance. All screens end with education on findings and instruction on corrective exercises or drills.
Any running sport athlete can benefit. Running sports include track and field (distance, sprints, and jumps), cross country, triathlon, ultramarathon running, and marathon running, as well as lacrosse, field hockey, soccer, football, basketball, and many others. Non-running sport athletes can also benefit! These include sports like golf, weightlifting, CrossFit, rowing, biking, and others. If you do a sport that involves moment, you can likely benefit from our 3D Running Gait and Movement Screen.
A TPI screen is a movement assessment designed specifically for golfers. It includes a series of movements and tests that highlight limitations in flexibility, stability, and strength which may be impacting your golf swing by causing decreased power, poor consistency, or increased pain with golf activity. Based on the results of the screen, we can prescribe an exercise program that addresses the limitations found to help keep you feeling and playing your best.
Whether you are a weekend golfer or an aspiring professional or anyone in between, a TPI screen can be beneficial. If you are a golfer who is looking to improve the efficiency of your golf swing and reduce your risk of injury, a TPI screen is for you.
We possess unique expertise as one of the few PT clinics that has a Level 3 Medical TPI certified provider who is also a licensed Physical Therapist. This specific combination of Level 3 training and Physical Therapy truly sets us apart. Not only can we identify impairments through the TPI screen but we also have the experience and clinical skill to address those weaknesses through specific and targeted interventions. These may include corrective mobility, strength, or power exercises, manual therapy, dry needling, and more.
Great! We are happy to connect with your golf or swing coach and share any relevant information or activities covered during your session. It can be extremely beneficial for your coach to understand any physical limitations you may have, as this insight can help guide their coaching more effectively. The purpose of a TPI screen is not to change your swing technique; it helps us better understand how your body moves and how that movement may be impacting your swing and then give you a plan to correct it.
All our Physical Therapists hold current first aid and CPR certification. Additionally, our Physical Therapists hold multiple certifications and training in a variety of manual therapy and exercise techniques. These include proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF), the Graston Technique, Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA), Functional Movement Screen (FMS), Mulligan mobilizations with movement, Barbell Rehab method, TRX suspension training, Blood Flow Restriction, Dry Needling, and countless others. Please contact us if you have a specific question about a technique or treatment approach.
Yes, when appropriate we refer to additional health and wellness professionals. This includes orthopedic surgeons, sports medicine physicians, podiatrists, chiropractors, massage therapists, personal trainers, and others. We do not participate in “referral loops” or incentivized referrals or any other type of financial or professional arrangement that could compromise our patient care – our only interest is in helping you find the best person to support you.
We rarely recommend products to our athletes and patients because we believe that usually the body already has all it needs. On the rare occasions we do, it is usually one of the following products (we hold no financial interests in any of these products or services):
- Balance pods
- Theracane
- Blood Flow Restriction (BFR) cuffs
- Stretch strap
- Foam roller
- Lax ball
